Georganne Shirk
Georganne became a CASA-NYC volunteer advocate in January 2020 and was elected to the Board in May 2026. She became interested in working with foster children as she was adopted as an infant by two loving and supportive parents. She views it as the luckiest moment of her
life. After moving to NYC, she started working with foster kids who weren’t as lucky. Through the NY Junior League, she volunteered for 3 years at the NY Foundling and later completed coursework to become a foster parent. CASA was an even better fit and she’s been a passionate
supporter since completing her training in 2019. To further her connection with youth, she substitute teaches in NYC public schools.
Professionally, Georganne was a CMO in the global consumer products industry. She led marketing, new product development, strategic partnerships, consumer research, media planning, and creative – resulting in record sales, high ROI, and profitable growth. She’s grown iconic brands such as Skippy peanut butter and Slim-Fast (Unilever), L’Oreal skin care and hair care, Dixie cups and plates, and Arm & Hammer foot care. She began her career in banking (Bank of America) and management consulting (Kearney). Georganne earned her MBA from Wharton and her BA in English from the College of William & Mary.
